Four more potential Europa League opponents are revealed
LEICESTER City have discovered four more potential Europa League opponents after their elimination from Champions League qualifying.
Spartak Moscow, Genk, Sparta Prague and Midtjylland have all moved into the Europa League group stages following their defeats on Tuesday night.
The quartet were all beaten in both legs of their third round matches, losing to Benfica, Shakhtar Donetsk, Monaco, and PSV Eindhoven respectively, two of which will also end up in the Europa League group stage, depending on who loses in the Champions League play-off round later this month. With four more teams added to the Europa League, half of the group stage line-up is now known.
Qualifying directly along with City were Lyon, Napoli, Bayer Leverkusen, Lazio, Braga, Eintracht Frankfurt, Lokomotiv Moscow, Marseille, West Ham, Real Sociedad, and Real Betis.
Meanwhile, six teams moved into the Europa League play-off round after losing their Champions League qualifying matches, including Scottish champions Rangers, who lost to Malmo 4-2 on aggregate.
Also hoping to now qualify for the Europa League are Legia Warsaw, the team of former City winger Bartosz Kapustka, as well as CFR
Cluj, Olympiacos, Red Star Belgrade, and Slavia Prague, who knocked City out of the competition at the last-32 stage last season.
City will find out their three groupstage opponents on August 27, when the draw is conducted.
They have a very slight chance of being in Pot 1, but are more likely to be in Pot 2.
