THE Victory Show is set to return next month after missing a year due to the Covid lockdowns.

Billed as the country’s largest Second World War weekend, the event will take place at Foxlands Farm, Cosby, from Friday, September 3 to the Sunday. Organisers say the show aims to bring to life every aspect of life during the war years, and will give visitors the chance to see an impressive lineup of Second World War aircraft, as well as reenactment camps and 1940s vehicles.

The three-day event incorporates educational sessions on the opening day, when up to 1,000 children will attend from schools from all over the county.

Saturday, September 4 and Sunday, September 5 will see the show in full swing with military vehicles and what is described as the largest collection of 1940s living history displays in the UK.

The air show, featuring iconic wartime aircraft such as the Supermarine Spitfire, Hawker Hurricane, the Avro Lancaster and the North American P-51 Mustang, will take place each day, as well as what organisers say is the UK’s largest Second World War battle re-enactment.

There will also be aircraft on the ground and 1940s working and static farming machinery, a large traders’ area and music throughout the day in the marquee.

Organisers say the main aim of The Victory Show is to provide a 1940s-themed event for the whole family to enjoy, regardless of age and interest.

The show in particular wants to honour all veterans, and is keen to attract as many of the dwindling band of Second World War veterans as possible to the show.

They are welcome to attend for free, with a family member or carer, and will be hosted in their own marquee, where they can enjoy a complementary light lunch and live music.

The Friday is designated as a School Day, but there will be no official airshow nor battle reenactment on this day.

The event will run from 9am until 5pm on the Saturday and Sunday.

Standard tickets are £20 adults, £10 children under 16, with free entry for infants up to two years old.

Second World War veterans can enter free with a pass, which need to be acquired in advance. To arrange this, call 07921 516 088.

VIP tickets are also available, at a cost of £60 adults, £30 children (aged five to 15) and £15 children (aged two to four).

These include access to the VIP enclosure, unlimited soft drinks, lunch, a show brochure, flight line walk, a chance to meet the pilots, seating in the battle reenactment viewing area and VIP car parking.
