Jewellery and coins stolen in house raid
BURGLARS have stolen pieces of jewellery of great sentimental value to the owner, say police.
The victim’s home, in Discovery Close, Coalville, was targeted in the early hours of Tuesday.
Intruders stole a jewellery box which contained the precious items, including an 18-carat yellow gold Egyptian cartouche pendant with the name “Linda” in hieroglyphics.
A set of 1947 coins, mounted on white card in a plastic sleeve, was also taken along with a bag of 1949 UK coins and an antique clay pipe, which was in a white Jiffy bag.
Detective Constable Natasha Perkins said: “Whoever is responsible for this burglary has taken items that would mean very little to them, however they mean an awful lot to the victims.
“We need your help to apprehend those responsible and reunite the items with the owner.
“If you have any information about who might be responsible or where these stolen items are now we would like to hear from you.
“Your information, no matter how insignificant you think it might be, could help with our investigation.”
