CO-OP staff doing their bit for charity were given a big boost when Hollywood star Stephen Graham and his wife Hannah Walters decided to pop by and lend their support.

Staff at the Ibstock Co-op store were raising money for Dementia UK, the retailer’s corporate charity, and were hosting a Back to the 80s event and raffle when the couple walked in.

Hannah, an actor and producer, has starred alongside her husband in Pirates of the Carribean: Salazar’s Revenge, This is England and, more recently, the BBC prison drama, Time.

The pair, who live in Ibstock, decided to help out their local Co-op’s fundraising and posed for a photo with staff.

The event ended up raising more than £700.

A spokesperson for Central England Co-operative Ltd said: “Our colleagues were given a boost in their efforts to raise money for charity when acting legend Stephen Graham dropped by.

“The star of big and small screen hits that include Line of Duty, This is England and Pirates of the Caribbean nipped in to Ibstock Food Store, in Ashby Road, as the team put on a Back to the 80s event and raffle to raise vital funds for the retailer’s corporate charity Dementia UK.

“The visit by the star and his wife Hannah helped the colleagues raise more than £700 for the good cause.

Stephen, 48, originally from Merseyside, made Leicestershire his home a number of years ago.

His other credits include working with director Martin Scorsese on Gangs of New York and The Irishman, playing Al Capone in HBO series Boardwalk Empire and, most recently, stealing the screen in Sky One show Save Me.
