Car blaze spreads to house

-

A FIRE quickly tore through a car before spreading to a house in Burbage.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service were called after the alarm was raised by someone reporting that a car was on fire.

The blaze had started in the driveway of a property, while the car was stationary.

On the fire crew’s arrival, the flames had reached the front of the house, where the door and porch area were alight.

People living in the property, in Surrey Close, on the village’s Three Pots estate, had already vacated the house before the arrival of the emergency services.

A spokesperson for the fire service confirmed that there were no injuries as a result of the incident.

According to the Fire and Rescue service, the cause of the fire was believed to be accidental.

The car and house were left severely damaged by the incident, shortly before 9pm on Thursday, and a special ventilation fan had to be used for the house, which had become smoke-logged.
