Witley Court: Imagine the splendour of the past
This elegant Victorian house has a colourful history peppered with tales of extravagant celebrations, including the Earl of Dudley’s three-day-long 21st birthday party in 1888. Discover the upstairsdownstairs stories of lavish entertainments including shooting parties attended by the Prince of Wales (later Edward VII). In its heyday, the Court relied on a staff of over 100. Then in 1937 a devastating fire reduced it to the impressive remains that stand today. Beyond the buildings, the vast gardens are a delight. Marvel at the Perseus and Andromeda fountain, one of Europe’s grandest, and stroll the path beside the lake.
