Dead man and woman found in home with injuries

-

AN elderly man and woman have been found dead with significant injuries in Desford.

Police said officers were called to an address in Leicester Lane on Thursday after neighbours raised concerns about the welfare of the elderly couple who lived there.

Officers discovered the bodies of a 69-year-old man and 79-year-woman inside the property and both had “significant injuries”, the force said in a statement.

Their family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained liaison officers.

An investigation into the circumstances around the pairs’ death has now been launched.

Detective Inspector Nicole Main, from the force’s major crime team, said: “We are working hard to understand what happened inside the address and how the two people died.

“At this stage we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the investigation and there is no wider risk identified to the public.

“I understand that there will be questions but our investigation is ongoing into the circumstance of the deaths.”
