Heroics of Patson left me in shock

-

PATSON Daka’s four-goal haul at Spartak Moscow left wing-back Victor Moses in shock, the former Chelsea and Liverpool man has admitted.

Daka struck all four during Leicester City’s trip to the Russian capital last month to earn a 4-3 win, with two of Spartak’s goals set up by Moses.

A title-winner during his time at Stamford Bridge, Moses said he did not realise during the game that Daka had scored all four, and it came as a surprise to him when he found out afterwards.

“When he scored the four goals, I didn’t really know that one person had scored all of them against us,” Moses said yesterday.

“After the game someone came up to me and said Daka had scored four goals. I said: ‘What? Do you hear what you’re saying?’

“When I watched the replays I then saw he scored the four goals.

“Fair play to him. He’s a great player, quick, strong, he likes to score.

“That was the first game. Now we know what to do and how to play against Leicester.

“They’re playing at home so they have the advantage.

“We’re looking forward to it. It’s going to be a difficult game for both sides.

“I still believe in our team, the players, and the manager and I know what we can do.”

The result in Moscow took City above Spartak in Group C, but both sides know victory tonight will take them into the pool’s top two.

While City come into the game off the back of one win and one defeat in the Premier League, against Brentford and Arsenal, as well as a Carabao Cup shoot-out success against Brighton, Spartak have had much less joy, suffering a 7-1 hammering by Zenit St Petersburg and then a draw against relegationbattling Rostov at the weekend.
