ARMED GANG LEAVES MAN IN HOSPITAL AFTER HOME BREAK-IN
‘BASEBALL BATS, KNIVES AND AIRGUN’ USED IN ATTACK
POLICE have appealed for witnesses after a man was left in hospital with serious injuries after a gang of seven, brandishing baseball bats, knives and guns, broke into a home.
The victim, aged in his 30s, was attacked in the early hours of yesterday in Dane Hills.
A MAN suffered serious injuries after a gang brandishing baseball bats, knives and guns broke into a home in Leicester.
The victim, in his 30s, was attacked in the early hours of yesterday at a property in Glenfield Road, Dane Hills, when a gang of seven men broken into the house near Fosse recreation ground.
The gang are believed to have been in possession of baseball bats, knives and what is thought to be a BB gun at the time of the vicious assault.
The victim, who suffered stab wounds and pellet wound injuries, was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
Two other people who were in the property at the time of the incident also suffered injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.
Police believe the gang left the property heading down Glenfield Road towards Franche Road.
Initial reports suggest the suspects may have then got into a van to leave the area.
The force have confirmed no arrests have been made at this stage.
Detectives are now appealing to anyone with any information to make contact.
APPEAL FOR WITNESSES
Detective Sergeant Joanna Elliott said: “We have a team carrying out full inquiries to establish the full circumstances of this incident.
“This includes analysing CCTV, searching the scene and speaking to witnesses.
“The incident happened during the early hours of (yesterday) morning but we are appealing to anyone who was in the area to think back to anything you may have seen or heard which caused you concern.
“Did you see a group of people in the area?
“Were there any vehicles in the area which looked unusual or caused you concern?
“Have you heard anything about this incident which could help us with our inquiries?
“We also urge anyone who has any CCTV or dashcam footage from the area to check this and get in touch with us.”
Det Sgt Elliott added that officers are working to reassure the public that they are safe.
“We understand this incident will have caused some concern and we remain dedicated to finding the people responsible,” she said.
“Our officers remain in the area this morning carrying out inquiries and offering reassurance – please do speak with them.”
