MEG’S LONG LOCKS GET CHOP AS SHE RAISES £4,000 FOR CHARITY
A KIND-hearted veterinary receptionist has braved a drastic new look in order to raise thousands of pounds and donate hair to charities which support people dealing with cancer.
Meg Wellum, a senior receptionist at Woodward Veterinary Practice, in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, has cut off more than 40cm (16 inches) of her traditionally long, flowing hair, which will be donated to The Little Princess Trust.
The charity uses donations to make real-hair wigs for children who are battling cancer.
Alongside this, Meg has been raising money for Macmillan Cancer Trust and has so far reached just over £4,000, smashing her original target of £2,000.
Meg said: “The reason I am doing this is because cancer hits close to home for me and my family.

“Having said that, she would probably have a few choice words about me cutting my hair off as she loved my long hair and would never let me cut it!
“But I know that she would be proud of me doing this for such a great cause.”
Sam Barton, clinical director at Woodward Veterinary Practice, said: “We’re all so proud of Meg for raising so much money and awareness for such a vital cause.
“She is a very kindhearted and caring person and we all know what this means to her, so we’ve been more than happy to
