Two hours wasted in bid to get our booster jab
THE government is stressing the need for members of the public, especially the over 50s, to get the Covid-19 booster vaccine.
To support this policy, the NHS is currently advertising a Covid-19 vaccine walk-in centre situated in Abbey Park, Leicester, which was advertised as being open to the public on November 6, 2021 between 5pm and 9pm, and specifically aimed to encourage the public to get vaccinated.
However, according to someone representing Leicester City Council, a decision was made specifically aimed at preventing vaccination taking place.
This idiot informed his subordinates that members of the public were not to be allowed entry into Abbey Park on Saturday evening, November 6, a public place I might add, unless they had already purchased a ticket for the firework display, organised for that same evening.
According to staff at the entrance to Abbey Park, members of the public, who were only trying to gain access to the walk-in centre, were denied entrance to the park.
Apparently, it was thought, one assumes, that these people might want to gain access to the park simply in order to watch the firework display for free. These members of the public were then informed they could go the vaccination walk-in centre situated in the BM car park about 0.5 mile away.
Again, making the effort to get vaccinated, one arrives at the walkin centre in the BM car park, only to find it has closed for the night. My wife and I, both well into our 70s wasted nearly two hours for nothing.
We must have been two of many who were turned away from Abbey Park and given incorrect information simply to protect council finances and not protect members of the public from Covid-19.
I suspect this idiot’s decision caused a great deal of inconvenience to many members of the public, especially for the elderly like ourselves.
Taking into account the number of staff present at the entrance to Abbey Park, who appeared simply to be standing around in case needed, it would not have been rocket science to have organised an escort to the walk-in centre and after vaccination, an escort out of the park. I believe this idiot should be named and shamed and should be made aware of his actions and the consequences resulting from them.
