Dog fouling incident is caught on camera

-

A DOG walker has been caught on CCTV failing to pick up after his pet - even after seemingly taking out a bag to remove the mess.

The incident took place in Alexander Avenue, near St Simon and St Jude Primary School, at 4.30pm on Thursday.

The man is seen in the footage stopping as his dog crouches down twice to do its business, before appearing to take out a bag, but then walking on without picking up the mess on the pavement.

Resident Lee Baggott found the mess outside his home after he came home from work in the evening, so decided to look over his CCTV footage to discover what had happened.

He posted about the incident on Facebook, encouraging the owner to come back and clear up the mess.

He said: “The audacity of some people! (He) even gets bags out and puts them back in his pocket. I expect this to be cleaned up tonight - if it’s still there in the morning you’ll be reported.”

He said some of the mess appeared to have been picked up by the next day, although some of it is still there.

Lee told the Mercury: “It’s a shame that it happens. I’m not into naming and shaming - this was about giving someone the opportunity to put right what they have done. It looks like they have made an effort.”

Lee says there are regular problems with dog fouling, including in the nearby Weaver Springs park, where people sometimes throw their poo bags into shrubs and trees.

At Burbage Common earlier this year, several visitors also reported seeing poo bags that had been thrown into hedges and undergrowth.
