Spreading Christmas cheer to good causes

-

RETAILER Dunelm is joining forces with Age UK Leicester Shire and Rutland with an aim to Deliver Joy at Christmas to older people.

Colleagues at Dunelm’s store support centre, in Syston, are being encouraged to spread kindness and give back by donating a gift to one of the charity’s day centre users.

A Christmas tree in Dunelm’s Syston office will be filled with Delivering Joy tags, with each one representing an individual old person.

Colleagues will choose a tag and buy a gift for the older person which will then be delivered by Age UK and Dunelm’s representatives.

Tony Donovan, executive director of Age UK Leicester Shire and Rutland said: “For many older people Christmas can be a very lonely time.

“Receiving a gift at Christmas will make all our day care clients feel like they are not forgotten and will definitely bring joy.”

PREZZO Leicester Meridian and Feeding Leicester are working together on a Love Every Moment This Christmas campaign.

Bill Bowley, from Toys on the Table, said: “The appeal has been going for 40 years and the numbers of children needing help has been going up every year, particularly due to Covid.

“The support of the people of the Harborough district is very important to us, and over the years HFM and the council have always supported us and people’s generosity is so appreciated.”
