A COMEDY club is hosting a fund-raising event for Angel Lynn, the young woman who suffered catastrophic injuries when she plunged from a van travelling on the A6 shortly after she had been kidnapped by her boyfriend.

The 21-year-old needs round-theclock care as a result of head injuries sustained in the fall from the van, into which Chay Bowskill had bundled her against her will.

ROFL Comedy Club, in Bar Social, Loughborough will host the event on Thursday, February 24, with three professional comedians in the line-up and 100 tickets available.

With a £1,000 target, a spokesman for the chain said they wanted to do something to help Angel.

Her injuries mean she can no longer speak, walk or feed herself, her family has said.

The money will go towards a £150,000 online campaign organised by Angel’s cousin, which states the money will be spent on equipment needed for her to return home to her family.

As of yesterday, the fund had just passed the half-way mark, standing at £75,400.

Carl Jones, the host for the evening, said the club, in Woodgate, got the idea from a local Facebook page.

Carl, who has featured on BBC Radio 4 Extra and has written for BBC Radio 4’s The News Quiz said: “The club is new to the area, we’ve only been here since December and we really wanted to do something to give back to the local community.

“When we heard about what happened to Angel and saw the idea of a potential fund-raiser on Facebook, we wanted to host it at our venue to show how much we want to help.”

Tickets for the event cost £10 each, all of which will go towards the fund.

Carl said: “The costs for the acts has all been taken on by the owner and we have the family’s blessing to go ahead and try to do some good while putting on a fantastic night of quality entertainment.

“We want it to be a fun night, but there’s a serious message behind it all. What happened to Angel was horrendous and we want to do our part to help out.”

Harriet Dyer, as seen on The Russell Howard Hour, on Sky One, is confirmed to be attending as well as Hannah Silvester, winner of the Breakthrough Act category in Midlands Comedy Awards in 2014.
