‘Being able to write a crappy review on restaurants

-

THE owner of a Groby restaurant has hit out at a reviewer who left a blunt comment complaining about their prices, saying that some people get a “power trip” out of slamming eateries.

Reece’s Kitchen, based at the village’s ex-serviceman’s club, has a five-star rating on Tripadvisor, with many visitors commending its carvery, burgers and breakfasts.

But one unhappy customer took to the online review site to vent their fury about a bad experience they claimed to have there.

Awarding the location just one star, the critic said: “With the amount of good reviews we thought we would have to try this.

“Annoyingly, we regretted it (and) won’t do it again. Overpriced.”

The owner of the restaurant was likewise left unimpressed, especially by the reviewer’s lack of detail about what they had actually disliked.

The owner said in response on Tripadvisor: “Everyone is entitled to have an opinion good and bad, but I think sometimes being able to write a crappy review on restaurants/take aways gives certain people a power trip.

“Without any insight into who you are or what you even had to eat, we cannot do anything about this review.”

The kitchen’s prices were also defended by the owner.

“I’d just like to put this out there for anyone reading this review: Our prices reflect today’s market, we consider our food to be very reasonably priced considering our meat for our burgers and our meat for our Sunday carvery / takeaways comes from an award-winning butcher (and) our brioche buns for our burgers are specially made for us from a bakery.

“Everything we do here is homemade and takes days to prepare.

“Also, Reece’s Kitchen is located inside of Groby Ex-Servicemen’s Club, the drinks at the bar and their costs
