WITNESSES have spoken of hearing the “loudest crash ever” after a car reportedly in reverse gear - ploughed into a house in Leicester.

The accident happened in Clarendon Park Road shortly before 11am yesterday.

The car, a dark blue Volvo, is thought to have reversed into a house.

The crash created a loud bang, demolished the wall and left the house’s front garden ruined, while the front window was cracked.

Emergency crews were called to the scene, while the road was closed off by police for more than an hour.

One woman, who works nearby, didn’t see the crash, but spoke of the noise it created. She said: “It was the loudest crash I’ve ever heard. It was like a recycling bin when it tips its load. Really loud.”

Another witness, a man, was impressed at how quickly crews were on the scene. He said “Everyone was here so fast, it was a quick response from everyone.”

It included two appliances from Central fire station and a technical rescue team from Southern station.

In a statement, Leicestershire fire service said they found the driver of the car trapped upon arrival. They added: “Incident confirmed as road traffic incident involving one car into building, one person trapped. Casualty extricated from vehicle by fire service using longboard.”

The scene shocked people nearby, with one business owner saying: “I was just sitting down when I saw the car reverse and go into the house.

“I couldn’t believe it,” he said. “It was shocking. Thankfully there was no blood and no one was hurt.”

Leicestershire Police, who were also in attendance, confirmed that no-one had been seriously injured in the crash.

A force spokesman added: “Officers were called at 10.52am following a report that a car had collided into a wall at a property in Clarendon Park Road.

“East Midlands Ambulance Service and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service were also in attendance. No serious injuries have been reported. “Advice has been provided regarding checks in relation to the wall structure.”
