On the Pathway to glory

THE second Leicesters­hire and Rutland Foxes Junior Pathway Tour tournament for boys and girls was contested at The Leicesters­hire GC with another full field of enthusiast­ic young golfers.

Henrietta Geddes (Rutland Water) emerged the overall winer of the 18-holes event with her total of 45 points.

Top boy was Leo Harrison (Longcliffe), who scored 40 points, two ahead of Rushay Pankania (The Leicesters­hire) who was second on countback from Tomas Farley (Kibworth).

Host club member Eesha Patel, with 34pts, was the girls’ winner, ahead of Ella Cunningham (Kilworth Springs), also on 34pts, and Megan Grimwood (Lutterwort­h) on 33pts.

Henry Zawadzki (The Leicesters­hire) was the 9-holes boys winner with his 19 pts haul, while the top girl was Freya Evans (Kibworth) on 10 pts. Anay Patel (The Leicesters­hire) won the boys’ Super 50 top award when he had 8 shots left, ahead of clubmate Yash Pankania, who had 6 left.

Sofia MacDougal (The Leicesters­hire) won the girls’ first prize in this section. She finished on the 9th green.

In the Flag 50 section, both the top prize winners – Rory Ashton and Nicole Parsons – are members of Hinckley GC. They had 16 and 3 shots left respective­ly.

Nyal Tailor and Edith Taunton, both home club members, with 7 shots and 2 shots remaining respective­ly, were second.

The Pathway Tour which is open to boys and girls aged between seven and 17, is a joint project between the county’s respective junior organisers – Mick Billingham (Cosby) and Anita Higginson (Kibworth).

A total of 120 boys and girls registered for the five tournament­s in this inaugural season.
