THREE directors have joined the board of the community interest company (CIC) behind Leicester Business Festival (LBF).

David Nicholls, managing director of Better-IT, Rupinder Drew, business enterprise manager at Leicester College and Leicestershire County Cricket Club chief executive Sean Jarvis have joined the team which helps run the annual event.

This year’s business festival takes place between November 7 to 18, with about 7,000 people and more than 1,000 businesses expected to be involved.

Sean said: “Leicester and Leicestershire are known worldwide for sporting successes and this makes our region a place people are attracted to.

“Similarly to every business, each element in sport absolutely matters, from grassroots, investments, development and commitment right through to the live delivery.

“LBF is the perfect place for me to share some of the insights and experience I have.

“I am really looking forward to not just inputting my experience to help drive a more positive local economy, but to also learn from others about what makes Leicester and Leicestershire one of the best places to work and invest in.

“I look forward to working closely with the other directors to make sure LBF 2022 is a huge success.”

The new members join Richard Osborn, regional director at Excello Law, and former divisional director at Brewin Dolphin, Ian McCormack, on the CIC board.

Mr Osborn said: “We’re delighted to welcome the new directors, who are not only knowledgeable across a range of sectors but they are influential locally and nationally.

“This is an exciting time for LBF as these appointments will build on the success and drive the festival forwards positively for the business community.

“Already Sean has supported the development of this year’s festival, by hosting a preview event at Leicestershire County Cricket Club, with more than 50 people attending. “This was an amazing opportunity in a fantastic setting. We looked ahead to the festival 2022 and ways to expand the offer to the wider business community. “Ultimately, we want to make doing business in our region better than ever.”

Sean said: “It was fantastic to see new and familiar faces at the preview event.

“The wide range of people from so many varying sectors really does show that there’s a huge appetite for the festival this November.” Applications to run an event at the festival are open now – and can be made before September 9 at:
