MasterChef winner gets job working for Ramsay
CHELSEA EATERIE
MASTERCHEF winner Eddie Scott has landed a job with Gordon Ramsay.
The TV cook is working for three months in Gordon’s Chelsea restaurant.
Eddie, 31, who grew up in Newton Harcourt, told The Sun: “I approached him, because we’d done some filming there so I thought it would be a great place to work.
“I asked them if there would be any possibility of getting some work experience. I get £10 an hour, and I’ll be there for three months.
“Normally you don’t get paid for these things, and people go all around the world to work with great chefs.
“I get a lunch break as well – the conditions are good.”
Speaking to the Mercury in May, after his MasterChef win, Eddie said: “It’s just been the most stressful time and the most enjoyable.
“I feel like I’ve just discovered who I am as cook. It’s the best feeling ever.
“It would be amazing to be able to cook in a top restaurant. It would also be exciting to write about food or even do some more TV.
“What I’d really love is to own my own restaurant. I always knew one day I wanted to pursue a career in food and now MasterChef has made me realise that this can be a reality.”
Eddie, 31, served as a navigation officer in the Merchant Navy. At 26, he applied for a job as a marine pilot and has since worked on the Humber.
Eddie lives in Beverley, a market town near Hull.
In an interview with the Yorkshire Post, he said: “I grew up in a family who were all very knowledgeable about food, which rubbed off on me.
“My mother is a great baker and always shared her love of wonderful cakes with me.
“My dad would cook less often, but when he did it would be a grand affair involving trips to specialist supermarkets.
“My grandparents on my mother’s side from Punjab were both excellent cooks.
“I used to watch my grandmother cook piles of amazing parathas and my grandfather was an expert at keema. They taught me a lot”.
