Two teams up to test of fearsome Wolf Run

COLLEAGUES WORK TOGETHER TO TAKE ON OBSTACLE COURSE

- By STAFF REPORTER

TWO teams of colleagues have taken on a tough challenge to raise money for charities.

Staff from Beaumont shopping centre, in Leicester, and Davidsons Homes East Midlands, which is based in Ibstock, took part in Wolf Runs.

The obstacle course races featured lake swims, mud pits, ditches, hills and dense foliage, designed to test each member physically and mentally.

Simon Revill, Beaumont centre manager, said the team wanted to do something to commemorate colleague Sam Westbrook, who died last year.

He said: “After speaking to Sam’s family it was agreed that Women’s Aid Leicestershire was a charity close to Sam’s heart.

“We raised a total of £2,107 which will make such a difference to the charity and the amazing work they do.”

The Davidsons Homes team raised £200 for Sported UK, which promotes fairness and equality for young people through grassroots sports and physical activity.

Charlie Stringer, group urban

designer for Davidsons Homes and one of the team’s organisers, said: “When we first spoke about taking part in the Wolf Run, I was only expecting a handful of people in the office to sign up.

“We’re so proud that eventually 24 of us took part in the challenge.

“It was a real test for many of us, but we got through it together.

“Although by the end we were muddy, tired and exhausted, we all felt much stronger as a team and are looking forward to – maybe – doing something similar together again.”

Jason Glover, operations director for Davidsons Homes, said: “Well done to the whole team who took part – 24 people competing in such a tough event is a huge undertaking.”
