Klopp not expecting easy ride on Monday

-

LIVERPOOL boss Jurgen Klopp says he expects a “super-difficult game” when he brings his in-form side to the King Power Stadium on Monday.

The Reds are doing their utmost to chase down Newcastle United and Manchester United, who occupy the last two Champions League places.

A month ago the club were in eighth, 10 points adrift of fourthplaced Manchester United, but six successive victories have propelled them to fifth – and only a point behind their rivals, albeit having played a game more.

Liverpool have the second best home record in the Premier League but, away from Anfield, that drops to ninth, hence their struggle to make the top four.

Ahead of the tricky trip to the King Power, they will be looking to avoid further troubles on the road.

Klopp, pictured, accepts their destiny is not in their hands this time when it comes to Champions League qualification, but is hoping to avoid a banana skin game against City.

He said: “I saw the game against Everton, they had really good spells, really good.

“When you’re in a relegation battle, we have to expect a team that wants to stay in the league and will fight for all they have.

“It will be a real fight and we have to be ready for that. They need all the points they can get. I expect a superdifficult game.”

He also referenced his first season in English football, when City shocked the football world by storming to the Premier League title under Claudio Ranieri seven years ago.

“In my first season here, Leicester won the league, a special story,” he said. “Now the story is obviously completely different, they are in a relegation battle.”
