Cole lifts Charles Phillips Trophy at Kibworth GC

IT is has been a busy spell at Kibworth GC with many competitio­ns for club members and their guests.

Andy Cole (12) scored 39 points to win the Charles Phillips Trophy, and the scratch winner was Matthew Wylie with a level par 71 card.

There were also four divisions which saw the first headed by Roger Elliott (10) on 37 points from Paul Jelly (4) second on 36 pts after a tie with Marc Asher (3) third.

Michael Craddock (13) on 36 pts won division two by two from Nick Jelley (11) second after a tie with Nigel Dench (15) third.

Jan Griffiths (18) on 34 pts led division three from Syd McCall (20) on 31 pts and the division four winner was David McBain (26) with 33 pts.

The top eight qualify for the Charles Phillips Cup tournament.

An invitation better-ball competitio­n was won by M Craddock and N Toseland with 47 pts.

M Cloke and S Elliott on 43 pts were runners-up on local rule from two more pairs.

Nearest the pin prizes went to Tony Ferris at the 3rd hole, Kevin Taylor (9th), Sam Clarke (12th) and

Phil Taylor (15th hole).

A Stableford tournament saw county player Richard Wake finish top gross with his 72 round.

The first division winner was Will Logsdon (9) with 37 pts.

Robert Bamber (5) on 36 pts was second on countback from Richard Clay (9) third.

Kevin Ball (14) topped a three-way tie on 35 pts in division two with Nigel Chambers (l5) second and Daren Woolnough (15) third respective­ly.

Syd McCall (20) headed division 3 with 37 pts and Jon Marsh (24) was the division four winner on 38 pts.

The first division of a midweek Stableford was led by Peter Horsley (10) on 38 pts and division two by Neil Smith (27) on 35 pts.

Aldo Rodi (18) headed division one of a similar club event with 41 pts on local rule from runner-up Andy Durose (18).

Division two winner was Peter Andersen (31) who scored 39 pts, with John Smith (27) second on 36 pts.
