PEOPLE are being invited join the Lord Mayor of Leicester on a charity walk of sporting stadiums.

Councillor Dr Susan Barton, pictured, has teamed up with United Leicester to host the event in support of Charity Link.

The walk takes place on May 10, setting off from the King Power Stadium at noon.

The route takes in the Uptonsteel County Ground, Grace Road, Mattioli Woods Welford Road Stadium and Leicester Riders’ Mattioli Arena, before returning to the King Power Stadium at about 3.30pm.

Refreshments will be available on the route and everyone taking part will receive a medal at the end.

People can register at the King Power Stadium on the day from 11am, or online, for £6.

Charity Link helps individuals and families in need have essential items, working with about 250 community organisations and charities.

Coun Barton said: “I hope as many of you as possible will join me on the walk.

“This is a perfect chance to celebrate our city’s fantastic sports clubs, to relive our sporting successes, get fit and to raise money for Charity Link all at the same time.

“Why not wear your favourite team’s colours?

“I’m really looking forward to welcoming everyone joining this charity walk.

“It will be a fun and interesting way of taking in all the city’s main sporting stadiums plus other Leicester highlights, all in one afternoon.

“Thank you to United Leicester and our sporting clubs that have helped make this event possible.”

United Leicester is a partnership project between Leicester City in the Community, Leicester Riders Foundation, Leicester Tigers Foundation, Leicestershire CCC in the Community, and Leicester Hockey Club.
