NINETIES pop star Faye Tozer is finding her inner villain for an “incredible” new show at Curve in Leicester this summer.

Audiences are promised spectacular puppetry and show-stopping choreography for the new UK touring production of 101 Dalmatians: The Musical.

Faye, who is one fifth of Steps, will take on the iconic role of Cruella de Vil in the new adaptation of the Dodie Smith classic, which went on to become one of Disney’s best-loved films.

The new production is written by Douglas Hodge from a stage adaptation by Zinnie Harris.

The classic canine caper will see Faye’s Cruella plot to swipe all the Dalmatian puppies in town to create her fabulous new fur coat, but there is much trouble ahead.

Faye said: “I’m going into my wicked era with this dream role - it really doesn’t get much better than Cruella de Vil!

“When they offered me the part,

I just jumped at the chance.” Faye, who also took part in the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing and finished as a runner-up, is no stranger to the stage, having starred in productions of 42nd Street, Singin’ in The Rain and Everybody’s Talking About Jamie. The Curve production will include show-stopping choreography which plays to Faye’s strengths from her time in Steps.

She said: “I love that it’s something people probably don’t expect me to do and can’t wait to create my own version of her for this incredible new musical.”

The show will run at Curve from July 23-27.
