‘Wrexham move could complete Vardy’s Hollywood career’

-

WREXHAM executive Humphrey Ker has refused to rule out a transfer move for Leicester City legend Jamie Vardy,

writes James Pallatt.

Vardy’s contract at the King Power Stadium ends this summer, but Foxes manager Enzo Maresca has already hinted the striker will be offered a new deal after firing the club to the Championship title and back to the Premier League.

Vardy, 37, has also made it clear he has no intention of retiring.

Wrexham are planning for life in

League One next season after winning promotion for the second successive season under Hollywood owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds.

And asked if they could make a move for Vardy, who has scored 20 goals for City this past season, Ker refused to rule anything out.

“There’s nothing to say that Jamie Vardy wouldn’t be a great Wrexham player,” Ker told SPORTbible.

“It’s not a name I’ve had mentioned inside the building before, but age and profile wouldn’t put us off.” Speaking ahead of City clinching the title, Vardy, below, made it clear he plans to continue playing. “I’m not ready to hang the boots up yet, the legs feel fine,” he said.

“I feel as fit as I ever have, so we’ll just see what happens.” Former England defender Rio Ferdinand wants to see Vardy have another crack at the Premier League with Leicester City.

But the former Manchester United star says if Vardy ends up leaving the King Power Stadium this summer, he would love to see him join newly-promoted Wrexham.

Speaking on Vibe with FIVE, Ferdinand said: “He’s got to play another season in the Premier League.

“I want to see him get a couple of goals in the Premier League, it’s nice.

“The only club I’d like him to go to if he leaves is Wrexham.

“It’s got that Hollywood feel and he’s had a bit of a Hollywood career,” he added, referring to Vardy’s rise from non-league football to playing for England.
