family of a woman who was found dead at a home in Leicester have paid tribute to a “funny character who radiated nothing but happiness”.

Tarnjeet Riaz, 44, pictured, also known by her maiden name Chagger, was found at an address in Tarbat Road, Thurnby Lodge, with serious injuries to her face and chest, police said.

Her family said in a tribute issued through police that they would “all miss her very deeply”.

They said: “Our beloved Tarnjeet, a soul that truly cared for others more than herself.

“A soul that adored and looked after her mum, younger sister and younger brother”.

Police were called by East Midlands Ambulance Service to Tarbat Road shortly after 1.30pm on Monday, after Ms Riaz was found inside a home there.

The force said that 50-year-old Raj Sidpara, of Tarbat Road, Thurnby Lodge, had been charged with murder.

He was due to appear at Leicester Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The family statement described Ms Riaz as caring and their best friend.

“She took on the responsibility of a father for her siblings and was the backbone of the family,” it said.

“She was a bubbly, caring and a funny character who radiated nothTHE ing but happiness. She knew the right things to say and do. She was not just a sister or a daughter, she was our best friend. A best friend who is no longer with us.

“It is a cruel world we live in. Tarnjeet will be remembered by many and we’re grateful she touched all of our lives.

“We can now only cherish the memories we have of our Tarnjeet.

“We will all miss her very deeply and we will always love her, RIP our angel.”
