LEICESTER City are said to have pulled out of a pre-season tournament against fellow Premier League sides in the USA.

West Ham, Wolves and Crystal Palace are in talks over a mini tour of the States, The Athletic report, with the Eagles replacing City on the bill.

The tournament will see matches played in Maryland, Jacksonville and Tampa Bay at the end of July.

City have not announced any pre-season plans as yet, but trips to the US are proving popular among top-flight clubs.

Six Premier League sides played in the inaugural Summer Series across the country last summer, with Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Aston Villa, and Bournemouth already confirmed to head there this summer. So far, City have not announced any pre-season plans.

Last summer, they headed to Asia as part of the Singapore Festival of Football.

There they were due to face Tottenham in Bangkok and then Liverpool in Singapore, but the first game was cancelled after a torrential downpour in the Thai capital.

City instead played local side Port

FC in a behind-closed-doors friendly.

That was City’s first pre-season trip outside of Europe since 2017, when they went to Hong Kong.

Under Brendan Rodgers, City usually stayed in the UK.

In his final summer in charge in 2022, City did make the short trip to Belgium to take on sister side OH Leuven, but then came back home, travelling to Hull City, Derby County, and Preston North End before hosting Spanish giants Sevilla in their final warm-up match.

That has been the traditional City pre-season of the past decade, with away matches against lower-league teams before a high-profile European side visits the King Power.

City have also welcomed Villarreal, Atalanta, Valencia, Borussia Monchengladbach, and Werder Bremen to Leicester in the past 10 years.
