Good things about our city would be nice

-

I HAVE read recently a lot of dissent about my city and on some I agree, especially about the bikes.

I really think this should be stopped as there are going to be some accidents and as we know bike riders aren’t required to carry insurance.

I hope Fosse Park works for M&S but to me it’s lost its ambience – it’s like a huge warehouse full of clothes.

I do grieve the loss of it from the city and always enjoyed going there.

I’m in town about three times a week and it was my place to go to for food.

A big shout out for Carl Gunns, who has stood outside M&S in all weathers getting up a petition to save it.

Let’s look at what our city has to offer. If you look up when you wander around you can see some amazing architecture from old Leicester, a lot of the façades have been kept.

Then there is Town Hall Square, always a pleasant place with the fountain cascading.

Then we have St Martin’s – lots of little cafes, some pubs and some quirky shops; we have the Guildhall where you can go on guided walks – I went on one recently and it was brilliant.

We have the Richard III centre – well worth a look and if you are a senior like me £10 for the year can’t be bad.

Then there is the cathedral; full of history and very welcoming.

A little walk further we have Mary De Castro. We still have a market at the moment and hopefully Peter Soulsby will make good his promise to the market folk.

We have Curve and the Little Theatre and, yes, I go out into the city at night to shows.

I love my city and it would be so nice to read some good things from others about places to go and things they have enjoyed.
