Do­na­tion team is af­ter your blood

The Scot­tish Na­tional Blood Trans­fu­sion Ser­vice is invit­ing res­i­dents of He­lens­burgh to do­nate blood when its mo­bile ser­vice ar­rives in the town.

The ser­vice will be at the Vic­to­ria Halls in Sin­clair Street on Thurs­day, Au­gust 27, from 2pm to 3.45pm and 5.15pm to 7.30pm, and the fol­low­ing day from 9.30am to 11.30am and 1pm to 3.30pm.

A spokesman for the ser­vice said: “Ev­ery minute of ev­ery day s ome­one i n Scot­land re­ceives blood as part of a life-sav­ing or life-en­hanc­ing treat­ment.

“Only five per­cent of the pop­u­la­tion are ac­tive blood donors. The Scot­tish Na­tional Blood Trans­fu­sion Ser­vice must welcome 5000 blood donors ev­ery week to meet t h e n e e d s o f p a t i e nt s i n Scot­land.

“We aim to have six days of sup­ply of each blood group to meet hos­pi­tal re­quire­ments. Whether you’re a new donor, a re­turn­ing donor or a reg­u­lar donor, we would like to in­vite you to your lo­cal blood do­nat­ing ses­sion.
