En­try call for Ar­gyll and Bute sus­tain­able de­sign awards

Peo­ple i n Ar­gyll and Bute who have com­pleted de­vel­op­ments i n t he past t hree years can en­ter t he coun­cil’s third sus­tain­able de­sign awards.

Recog­nis­ing, pro­mot­ing and cel­e­brat­ing ex­am­ples of ex­cep­tional de­sign qual­ity, the awards give de­vel­op­ers the op­por­tu­nity to have their work en­dorsed by plan­ning pro­fes­sion­als.

Coun­cil­lor David Ki nniburgh s ai d: “These awards give peo­ple a tremen­dous op­por­tu­nity to have their work pro­fes­sion­ally en­dorsed by the coun­cil’s plan­ning team.

“Our pl a nni ng s e r v i c e works to sup­port sus­tain­able eco­nomic growth, mak­ing things hap­pen and en­cour­ag­ing ex­cep­tional de­vel­op­ments.

“These awards will celebrate great de­sign and real l y ra i s e aware­ness of what is ex­cep­tional. This is a chance to show­case the very best in sus­tain­able de­sign in Ar­gyll and Bute.

There are four cat­e­gories: s ma l l - s c a l e r e s i d e n t i a l de­vel­op­ments; larg­er­scale hous­ing projects; com­mer­cial/ com­mu­nity/ i ndus­trial build­ings ; and re­fur­bish­ments of ex­ist­ing build­ings.

T h e 2 0 1 5 a wa r d s w i l l con­sider com­pleted projects that have a Build­ing (Scot­land) Act 2003 Com­ple­tion Cer­tifi­cate dated be­tween Jan­uary 1, 2012, and June 30, 2015.

P r e v i o u s awa r d s hav e hi g hl i g ht e d hi g h qual i t y de­vel­op­ments which com­bine in­no­va­tive de­sign with su­perb en­vi­ron­men­tal p e r f o r man c e , a n d h a v e in­cluded projects across the area, from small is­lands to large main­land towns.
