Volunteers have been left disheartened after beautiful flower beds were left trampled and covered in dog mess.

The Leamy Foundation, who planted a number of flower beds in Alexandria, are gutted that the community space has been wrecked and are urging dog owners to pick up after their pets.

The group of residents promote self-improvement and wellbeing by getting vulnerable members of the community involved in gardening.

“It’s disheartening to see something which local residents have created and are proud of being spoiled like this.

“Our volunteers shouldn’t have to clean up other people’s dog mess and yet that is exactly what they’re having to do. I congratulate them for their dedication to brightening up the local area.

“Dog poo bags can be picked up in the Central AlexandriaTenants and Residents Association - CATRA hall, 5 Alexander Street.
