Man, 68, de­nies sex of­fences against kids

A 68-year-old Dumbarton man has de­nied his­toric sex of­fences against two chil­dren.

Alexan­derWatt, of Al­clutha Av­enue, is al­leged to have as­saulted the young­sters, along with a third child, in the 80s.

He ap­peared in the dock at Pais­ley Sher­iff Court last week to deny the five charges of as­sault and lewd, in­de­cent and li­bidi­nous be­hav­iour in Ren­frew­shire.

It’s claimedWatt re­peat­edly kissed a girl aged be­tween four and eight on the body, ex­posed him­self and forced her to touch him.

He is also said to have as­saulted the same girl when she was aged be­tween five and 10 by strik­ing her body with his hand as well as us­ing other items to hit her.

Watt also de­nies a charge of us­ing lewd, in­de­cent li­bidi­nous prac­tices against a boy aged be­tween seven and nine.

It’s al­leged that he touched the boy and forced the child to touch him. He is also said to have com­mit­ted a sex act on him­self in front of the boy.

It’s al­leged he as­saulted the same boy when he was aged be­tween six and 11 by strik­ing him with his hand and other items.

He is also ac­cused of as­sault­ing a sec­ond boy, aged be­tween six and eight by hit­ting him on the body and with other items.

All of the al­leged of­fences are said to have taken place in Pais­ley.

Watt is due to ap­pear back at Pais­ley Sher­iff Court next month.
