Com­fort for blaze vic­tims

A kind-hearted crafter made patch­work quilts for vic­tims of the Gren­fel­lTower dis­as­ter.

RhonaThom­son, who lives in Alexan­dria, got in­volved in a Face­book group through which she has made 20 quilts and do­nated the ma­te­ri­als to fel­low quil­ters to cre­ate a fur­ther 35.

The 54-year-old, who has been quilt­ing since the age of 16, spot­ted the group Quilts for Gren­fel­lTower and was de­ter­mined to get in­volved.

She said:“There has been a quilt made for ev­ery­one but th­ese are not only for those that were in the build­ing dur­ing the fire but also mem­bers of the emer­gency ser­vices in­clud­ing fire­fight­ers, po­lice, am­bu­lance staff and 999 call han­dlers.”

Rhona founded char­ity Com­fort Quilts Scot­land, which has do­nated hun­dreds of patch­work and craft items to char­i­ties in­clud­ingYorkhill Sick Kids, Se­nior Care and Spinal Units of South­ern Gen­eral Hos­pi­tals and deaf­blind or­gan­i­sa­tion Sense.
