Crashed car brings trains to a stand­still

Rush-hour com­muters faced de­lays after a car ended up on the train line near Bowl­ing.

A small red car is un­der­stood to have col­lided with a fence be­fore end­ing up on the train line be­tween Bowl­ing and Kilpatrick last Thurs­day evening.

This caused the line to be closed while the car was re­cov­ered at around 5pm.

Bri­tish Trans­port Po­lice say a 76-year-old woman has been re­ported for care­less driv­ing fol­low­ing the in­ci­dent.

Train ser­vices to He­lens­burgh — via Dum­bar­ton, the Vale and Bal­loch — were all de­layed un­til around 7pm.

A spokesman for Scotrail said on Thurs­day :“Fol­low­ing a road ve­hi­cle block­ing the rail­way be­tween Bowl­ing and Kilpatrick the line has now re­opened.

“Train ser­vices are re­turn­ing to nor­mal but some ser­vices will still be de­layed or re­vised. “Dis­rup­tion is ex­pected un­til 7pm.”
