13 kids in care need fam­i­lies

There are thir­teen chil­dren in care in­West Dun­bar­ton­shire des­per­ately seek­ing adop­tive fam­i­lies.

AndWest Dun­bar­ton­shire Coun­cil is urg­ing any­one who is in­ter­ested in of­fer­ing a lo­cal child a per­ma­nent home to at­tend planned events.

To co­in­cide with Na­tional Adop­tionWeek – from Mon­day, Novem­ber 20, to Satur­day, Novem­ber 25, –West Dun­bar­ton­shire Health and So­cial Care Part­ner­ship (HSCP) staff will be man­ning in­for­ma­tion stands across the area.

HSCP chief of­fi­cer, Beth Cul­shaw, said:“Peo­ple some­times think they can’t adopt be­cause of their per­sonal cir­cum­stances. How­ever, th­ese con­cerns are of­ten un­founded and so we would en­cour­age any­one with an in­ter­est in adop­tion to get in touch with us be­fore rul­ing them­selves out.”

She added:“We know that to give chil­dren the best start in life, they need stable and lov­ing homes, along with care and sup­port. I would ask our res­i­dents to please take the time to visit one of our in­for­ma­tion stalls and take the first step to­wards of­fer­ing a per­ma­nent home those chil­dren.”

Lo­cal in­for­ma­tion events will be held at Loch Lomond Shores main en­trance onTues­day, Novem­ber 21, from 9.30am to 11.30am and 1.30pm to 4pm; the Meadow Centre, Dum­bar­ton on Wed­nes­day, Novem­ber 22, from 9.30am to 1pm; Gar­shake coun­cil of­fices onThurs­day, Novem­ber 23, from 11am to noon; and Cly­de­bank Leisure Centre on Mon­day, Novem­ber 20, from 10am to 1pm and 3pm to 5pm.
