Fi­nal touches be­ing put to OLSP pitches

Foot­ball pitches at the new Our Lady and St Pa­trick’s high school cam­pus will be ready for use next month.

The new £25mil­ion school opened on Oc­to­ber 30.

How­ever, the foot­ball pitches are not cur­rently avail­able for use by pupils.West Dun­bar­ton­shire Coun­cil is cur­rently fin­ish­ing work on the grounds around the pitches – which are sit­u­ated across from the new school on Howat­shaws Road in Bellsmyre.

The work is ex­pected to be com­pleted in De­cem­ber and both pupils and the com­mu­nity will have ac­cess to the sports fa­cil­i­ties af­ter that. The coun­cil has con­firmed lo­cal sports teams will be able to book the pitches for use out­with school hours.

A coun­cil spokesman said:“A small amount of fin­ish­ing work on an area around the new pitches is be­ing car­ried out and it is an­tic­i­pated the pitches will be fully up-and-run­ning and avail­able for use by the pupils and the com­mu­nity in De­cem­ber.”
