Litter picker is recycling hero

Lennox Herald - - NEWS -

A Dumbarton volunteer has been presented with a recycling award for collecting hundreds of coffee cup lids from across the town. Jonathan Rainey, 23, was awarded a Clean Up Scotland Hero of the Month award for his efforts which contributed to an exhibition. As part of the national Clean up Scotland campaign, organised by Keep Scotland Beautiful, Jonathan loyally collected and labelled each lid with details of the location that they were found. They formed an integral part of the public exhibition at the Gallery of Modern Art in Glasgow. An eager environmentalist, Jonathan can regularly be found out and about cleaning up the local spaces. He also helps raise awareness of his efforts and other Clean Ups in the area on social media. He said: “Whilst I really enjoy cleaning up litter from my local area, I wish that I did not have to. I hope that people really do stop dropping their litter.”
