Star guest at Hel­mand screen­ing

James Bond star Daniel Craig left a young Dum­bar­ton sol­dier stunned when he vis­ited him on the front­line in Afghanistan.

Ni­cholas Hayes, 19, was among 800 troops who had as­sem­bled to watch a screen­ing of the lat­est Bond film ‘Sky­fall’ at Camp Bas­tion when the 007 star ap­peared at the be­gin­ning of the show.

Daniel Craig sur­prised the sol­diers, sailors and air­men by ar­riv­ing to in­tro­duce his lat­est film to the en­thu­si­as­tic crowd .

The Bri­tish ac­tor was then given a tour of the camp and ex­pe­ri­enced mil­i­tary train­ing first hand.

Royal Mil­i­tary Po­lice­man Ni­cholas, who was serv­ing his first tour in Afghanistan, posted a mes­sage about the visit on his Face­book page, say­ing: “That awk­ward mo­ment when you’re in Afghanistan about to watch the new James Bond film Sky Fall and Daniel Craig walks in...”

He told the Len­nox Her­ald: “The sol­diers were in­vited along to watch the new James Bond movie and just prior to the movie start­ing Daniel Craig made an ap­pear­ance.
