Burgh club se­cure top ac­co­lade at Ar­gyll and Bute Sports Awards

A He­lens­burgh net­ball club net­ted club of the year at the Ar­gyll and Bute Sport Awards.

G84 club pro­vides kids, aged 5-16, with train­ing and matches for around 100 play­ers with all abil­i­ties.

The U15 team were the Scot­tish Cham­pi­ons and the Glas­gow League win­ners in 2016/17 with three young­sters also gain­ing na­tional colours.

Our pho­tog­ra­pher Colin Garvie went along to the ju­nior section’s train­ing at Lomond Sports Hall to see some of the tal­ented young­sters prac­tice their skills on the court.

Many of the play­ers were in ac­tion at the week­end as the U11s Straight Aces and Giants who took part in their sec­ond tour­na­ment of the year.

And GoneWild grabbed their first vic­tory in the 2017/18 U13 Scot­tishYouth Cup.

The U17s are look­ing for­ward to the fi­nal of the Glas­gow/ La­nark­shire league.The girls put in an “amazing per­for­mance” against a well skilled Cad­zow team.

A spokesper­son added:“G84 were clin­i­cal in their ap­proach to the game, storm­ing to an 87-36 vic­tory tak­ing them into the fi­nal last Mon­day night.”

This week­end the club hosts a P 1-4 Fun­da­men­tal Fes­ti­val from 10am to 1pm at Her­mitage Academy.
