The bright wintery sun, reflected on the Clyde,
Many people gathered to remember with pride,
Not to glorify the warfare and strife,
But to honour those who sacrificed their life.
In the silence, we thank them that we are free,
Our thoughts for those who died, in the air, and on the sea.
The giving of their lives, a gift for you and me,
To love our lives content, free from tyranny.
We thank them all - friends and relations,
And the many, from other nations,
Lord may we all of the human race,
Work together - make this world a better place. Stuart McWilliam Westbridgend, Dumbarton
