Oliver Locker-Lampson was MP for Ramsey, Huntingdonshire, but had, like many gentlemen, a holiday home at Cromer and a friend in Winston Churchill. With Winnie’s support, Oliver used his own substantial funds to equip a squadron of armoured cars and they were despatched to the Russian Front, to support the Czar. However, due to events in Russia they were sent to guard the oilfields in Mesopotamia. For his troops Oliver used local support in Cromer to get the volunteers and this fascinating story deals with these men and the three Baker brothers whose diaries and photographs, along with LocketLampson’s accounts, form this amazing story. Who would have thought that a group of Norfolk lads would be in Russia helping the Czar and then in the deserts of Mesopotamia? Fascinating.

Fully illustrated in black and white.
