Personal service is appreciated

Let's Talk - - POSTBAG -

It was very interesting to read about the Co- op in September’s issue and I was prompted to write on the issue of disappearing shops on our high streets.

Lowestoft High Street has a wonderful haberdashery which I love to frequent whenever I go into town.

It’s nice to be on first name terms with the owner and I always get a lovely smile and hello. I love to see the displays and what there is to buy. It is also nice to chat and catch up on what’s going on. That’s how it was in days gone by and I’m sure we were enriched by the shopping experience.

I really appreciate small shops such as those where we get personal service and nothing seems to be too much trouble. Buying online isn’t half the fun and if we don’t use the high street, I’m sure we’ll live to regret it. JULIE HOGG Oulton Broad Suffolk
