Why does Neil think the TV series Coast was so popular? He says it reminded people of how spectacular Britain can be and of how much history has unfolded here.
“I think the music, I think the photography, I think the fact that there was a lot of aerial photography in it … it gave people a view of Britain which was quite thrilling,” he says.
“I think the fact that it was spread across five personalities rather than just one was also part of what made it.
“It added to the sense that Coast was a programme of great variety – a great variety of landscapes, a great variety of stories and five presenters, so the whole thing felt as if it was lively and it kept on changing – much like the coast does.”
