Take the turkey for a walk
If you would like to make a more substantial snack ( maybe to take with you on a New Year’s Day walk on the beach) make double the quantity of filling and a batch of shortcrust pastry using 500g plain flour, pinch of salt, 125g butter, 125g lard and approximately 50ml water.
Roll the pastry into six rounds and divide the filling between them. Brush the edges with beaten egg, then fold the pastry over the filling and crimp the edges to seal.
Brush the pasties all over with beaten egg and bake in a pre-heated oven at 180C (160C fan/gas mark four) for approximately 30 minutes until golden brown and piping hot.
