A GRAMMY-winning jazz musician and one of the biggest streaming UK artists have announced gig dates in the county for next summer.

American singer-songwriter Gregory Porter will be headlining at Lincoln Castle on Sunday, June 30.

The California-born sensation will be performing two days after indie hitmakers Kaiser Chiefs, who will share the same stage as Paloma Faith, Jess Glynne and Australasian rockers Crowded House next summer.

Peter Taylor, from tour promoters Cuffe and Taylor, said: “His rich and soulful voice combined with his exuberant personality will create a magical atmosphere in the grounds of Lincoln Castle.

“He performs with such ease and his vocals are even better live, never a note out of place.” Tickets will go on sale at 9am on Friday, December

Porter’s breakthrough album Liquid Spirit won the Grammy Award for best jazz vocal album in 2014. He earned his second for his 2016 follow-up record Take Me To The Alley.

The 52-year-old Sacramento native is best known for the soulful hits Hey Laura, L-O-V-E and for the Claptone remix of his track Liquid Spirit. It will be his first time performing in Lincolnshire.

His latest album, titled ‘Christmas Wish,’ hit the shelves on November

Popstar James Arthur will be returning to Lincolnshire in the summer of 2024 for an open-air concert.

The Middlesborough-born singer has been announced as the headline act at Rasen Rocks, the annual event held at the Market Rasen racecourse, on Saturday, August 17.

Tickets will go on general sale at 9am on Friday, December 8, with a presale available at 9am on Wednesday, December 6. They are priced starting from £33.60 for presale and from £39.20 for general. Limited child tickets will be available from £16.80.

They will be available from racecourse owner The Jockey Club’s website. The show would start around 8.30pm, with gates opening at 3.30pm.

A lot has changed since the 35-year-old last played in Lincolnshire back in 2013 - he is now one of the biggest streaming artists in the UK, known for the hits Train Wreck and Car’s Outside.

He said: “Playing live is one of my absolute favourite things to do, and it’s made even better when it’s outdoor shows in the summer evenings.

“I had an amazing time at Rasen Rocks 10 years ago and can’t wait to see you all on Saturday, August 17.”

Jack Pryor, the general manager at the Market Rasen Racecourse, said: “Following the return of live music to the racecourse last year with the huge show from Tom Grennan, we can’t wait to welcome another massive British star to Market Rasen.

“James Arthur has become a household name since his last show here 10 years ago - his Rasen Rocks headline is sure to be a hit and a firm highlight of the summer season.”

James Arthur’s fifth studio album ‘Bitter Sweet Love’ will be out on January 26 2024.
