MAN ARRESTED OVER CHILD SEXPLOITATION IN LINCOLN
A CHRISTMAS market themed around the Victorian era promises ‘fun and games aplenty’ for Lincolnshire families. The Victorian Christmas Family Fun Day will be held at the Museum of Lincolnshire Life, in Lincoln, between 10am and 4pm on Friday, December 22
Families will get the chance to meet Mother Christmas, get stuck in with arts and crafts, and even take ‘Dickensian lessons’ in the old classrooms. Steve Dunk, the museum’s visitor experience manager, explained why the Victorian era, named for the monarch who reigned from 1837 until 1901, is so entwined with Christmas.
He said: “A lot of the Christmas traditions that we still enjoy today were made popular in Britain during the Victorian era – including decorating a tree and Christmas dinner – so there’s a reason this period is so closely associated with the festive season. So come on in out of the cold and enjoy a warm, welcoming, traditional Victorian Christmas with us at the museum.”
Visitors will also get to meet Nellie the cook, who’ll be preparing a Christmas feast in the kitchen, and the printer Mr Black, who will be printing festive cards for people to take home. The museum will be closed between December 24 and Wednesday, December 27, as well as on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
