The stress util­ity per­forms a loop that cal­cu­lates the square root of a ran­dom num­ber in or­der to stress the CPU. You can cus­tomise op­tions by nav­i­gat­ing to the Stress Op­tions screen from the S-TUI side­bar.

The graph­i­cal in­ter­face en­ables you to de­fine all the ma­jor set­tings such as the worker count for the sqrt(), sync() and mal­loc() func­tions, as well as choos­ing whether to dirty the mem­ory.
