Did you know that when white appears to you in a dream, it’s said to represent happiness? It seems a fitting colour to decorate a home with…
And while the advantages of living in a white space are well known (it aids mental clarity and encourages fresh beginnings), my favourite benefit is the colour’s unexpected ability to hide blemishes and bleach out architectural quirks. So, far from being a nightmare to live in, a neutral scheme is one of the easiest to maintain (a lick of paint covers up scuffs and loose covers can be thrown in the washing machine without fear of fading). Confusingly, however, there are more shades of white available to decorate with than any other colour in the spectrum, so getting a neutral scheme ‘right’ can be challenging. Cue The White Issue!
As the beautiful homes and stylish decorating stories prove in this special issue, white is super-versatile – from sparkling gallery whites through to rustic, mellow tones, it’s a colour of many moods and the perfect foil for bright pops or touch-me texture. So I hope you’ll be inspired to take the plunge and consider an all-white scheme. It should mean some very happy dreams!
