colour for bedrooms]
Peter Gomez, head of the Zoffany design studio, shares his tips on restful palettes * Tranquil blues and calm neutrals are known for their relaxing and regenerative powers, so are ideal for bedrooms. I recommend muted, pared-back hues – the chalkier the better – for a soothing setting.
* for a feeling of wrapping
yourself up and escaping from it all, try mid-dark paint shades such as Zoffany’s Pewter, which creates a cocoon-like environment. for a total submersion effect, use them on all four walls and the ceiling, layering with velvet and wool textures.
* The colour confident should embrace the trend for rich, dark shades. Zoffany’s new bone black paint has warm undertones that work surprisingly well in a bedroom.
* shades to avoid are anything bright or challenging as they’re not conducive to good sleep. However, if your bedroom is large, it’s possible to use pops of brighter colour, as long as they’re offset with softer tones.
* If your bedroom lacks natural light, try pale, soft colours that reflect what light you
do have. make use of different tones within a colour range to maximise depth and interest.
* If the room is too bright, go with a neutral palette – it will absorb any brightness and make the space feel more peaceful.
