We’re FOLLOWING: SKINFLINT

-

WE’RE ON BOARD with Skinflint’s mission to bring new life to old lights. Rescuing special pieces from the scrapheap, its dedicated team scours the globe to find designs worth schlepping home to salvage, from industrial pendants reclaimed from Derby’s Rolls-royce factory to opaline glassware hailing from the Eastern bloc.

WE’RE TIME TRAVELLING Recent treasures include Forties and Fifties airfield landing lights recovered from RAF bases in north-west Wales.

For spring/summer 2019, one-off chandeliers, retro pendant lights and cut-glass numbers from 1920 to 1970 have been reclaimed from the grand civic buildings and hotel lobbies of the former Czechoslovakia.

WE’RE SOLD on the Sixties linear LED pendants. Hang over the kitchen counter for instant worktop chic.

WE’RE SURROUNDED Look around and you’ll spot Skinflint lining the walls of the recently opened Kerridge’s Bar & Grill at London’s Corinthia Hotel, bedside at Artist Residence hotels, overhead in Soho’s The Groucho Club, and in the windows of cult pasta hang-out Padella. Not bad for a small company from Penryn, Cornwall.

WE’RE IMPRESSED The brand is proud to be a part of the ongoing restoration of St Giles House, Dorset – a 400-year-old stately pile that was once home to the first Earl of Shaftesbury – with its lights featured in the venue’s newly revamped Riding House, stable stalls and basement cellar. Fancy! (skinflintdesign.com)
